What values of response modification factor does Metal Building Software (MBS) use in each direction? My company uses this software for PEMBs but they have not subscribed to its customer support and I am unable to find the R values for moment frames and braced frames used by MBS in the help section. If anyone has insights on this, please let me know. Thanks.

Generally the main frames are single story OMF's that use the exceptions to achieve heights above the limits of Table 12.2-1.
This is also true for sidewall portal frames.

The sidewall braced frames are usually ordinarily concentrically braced frames.

PEMBs don't get to use magic R numbers specially for them, but the height exception is used regularly.

The R value can be set by the user in the building code file or the design constant file.
