I am advising a group of college students on the development of a electical motor/combustion engine hybrid vehicle project. We are all very new to this field.

I am looking for textbook and resource recommendations to educate ourselves in this technology.

As mechanical engineers, I am confindent on mechanical aspects. Most concern is in the areas electrical power - storage, generation and efficient use. Any suggested resources that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I know of no textbooks on the subject. Since hybrids are mostly an amalgam of several disciplines; Materials, Mech Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, it doesn't fit many class teaching criteria where only one of those subjects are typically being focused on.

You will probably be better off doing a web search for white papers. Perhaps get the students doing searches too.

Here's a result to start you off.
