hello everyone

i just want to know when we use shear release or axial release in Etabs program?
what is the conditions? can anyone help please?

When you detail the connection to not take shear

@lucied

okay i understand but can you give me an example please?

How do you understand it? Try telling us how you understand it so we can help you implement it properly in your ETABS model.

For now, see attached. Same applies to shear, moment, torsion, and all other forces.

okay now its more clear for me because i was just thinking about concrete elements so i couldn't understand the idea very well>
thanks for explaining

i will be so grateful if you give me more conditions

Releasing restraints can also in concrete elements as well. Think of a precast T-beam being connected to a cast-in-place column. The T-beam will be simply supported with no moment restraints, so you release all moments and make it pinned.
