Reinforcement of existing CMU walls

Dear Friends:
I need to provide reinforcement on a 20ft tall existing 12" CMU wall. I am indicating to grout solid and reinforce with #5 rebar at 32" o.c.
The Contractor on the job claims that grouting of CMU cell from the top, on a 20ft tall wall, may not yield successful results.
Has anyone ever had to reinforce CMU walls in a similar condition? Can a tremmy tube be used with a very thin grout? What would be the most indicated method?

He's correct. You can knock out face shells every so many ft. vertically and grout in lifts. I've also seen the entire face shell slotted, bar dropped in, and then that slot grouted back solid.

Thanks bookowski! Actually, that was one of his suggestions - the last one on a list of what seemed to be very expensive solutions

I am going to approve this option.
