Regarding Stitch

It is recommended to use Stitch command when it is desired to have well formed meshes on plated structures.
I was wondering about two things then :-
1) Why do we need to go to solids when the structure is made of plates.
2) Using this option , is there any other repercussion on plated finite elements.

Not any problem exist with "GEOMETRY > SOLID > STITCH" command, it is a really powerfull and runs OK, probably you are confused because it can be used not only to create closed 3-D solid based in the boundary surfaces, but also to stitch surfaces together to create s SHEET SOLID to mesh with Plate elements. Well, the location of command under SOLID can be confusing, it should be also a copy under SURFACES, really for me this is the only use I do with this command, to stitch surfaces together to prepare for shell meshing.

Another important benefit -critical!!- when using this command is that the resulting SHEET SOLID (or sheet body if you prefer this name) has all surfaces NORMALS CORRECTLY ORIENTED in the same direction (either IN or OUT), but all the same!!. This is critical when preparing surface geometry to be part of Non-Manifold Add command to be meshed with Shell elements: once the Non-Manifold geometry is created, not possible to issue command MODIFY > UPDATE OTHER > SURFACE NORMAL to reorient locally any surface, then normal consistence in shell elements can not be achieved if any surface is not correctly oriented, OK?. Then STITCH commad is great, use it always when possible ...
