Reducing bushing threaded

Hi,

I have a new vessel that is to replace what is supposed to be an exact copy. Unfortunately, there was a mix up where the U-1 nozzle connections and drawing didn't match, and what was supposed to be a 2 1/2" threaded nozzle ended up being a 3".

Would installing a hex reducing bushing in the 3" to allow for a heating element at 2 1/2" to fit still meet ASME code Sec VIII, Div 1?

U-1(e)(1)(-b) "In relation to the geometry of pressure-containing parts, the scope of this Division shall include the following: ..... the first threaded joint for screwed connections; "

Thanks

I think you answer the question and vessel finishes at the 3" thread. The question now is the reducing bushing a valid piping component?

That's true. I guess my question was more so is the entire joint subject to code or just the 3" thread coming off the vessel. I did not word it correctly
