Hi friends

Hi friends, I hope everybody is fine here

I have heard , that is a good practice to specify in a reciprocating compressor RFQ, a maximum operating rod load ( RL) that must be lower than the maximun rod load of the rod load specified by the manufacturer in the compressor design.

API 11P standard, states that the operating rod load shall not exceed the design RL but it does not state what could be the " gap " between the recommended operating rod load and the design value of RL.

Does anybody here have some experience about it and provide comments.

Thanks in advance

David

Less than or equal to the manufacturer's published maximum rod load. Just don't exceed it. Safety factor is included already. There is no need for extra safety factor.
