Section 12.6.2 in ACI 318 stipulates lap splice length with bars of different size when bars are in compression.
Is there any such guideline for bars in tension?

I'm looking at 12.6.2 in ACI 318-05 and this doesn't seem to be the right section - what year/edition are you looking at?

My apology, JAE, it's a typo, and it should be 12.16.2

Section 12.15 defines a tension lap splice in terms of the development length in tension (defined in section 12.2.2)

cmrdata,

You're looking for clause 12.15.3 (318-08)

Seems to be new in 318-08, though it isn't noted as such.

If you don't have 08 then...

"12.15.3 - When bars of different sizes are lap spliced in tension, splice length shall be the larger of ld of larger bar and tension lap splice length of smaller bar."

Thank you all for the responses. You're right, the answer is in 318-08 while I am using 318-05.
