I read in an older thread about razor blades being coated with DLC coatings to assist the initial break-in.

Does anyone know if common razor blades (for face shaving, etc., not for paint scraping) are coated with this or other coatings?

The last time that I looked into this a few years ago, none of the comercial personal use blades were being coated.

Comercial blades used for chopping fiber for plastic filler use 440C blades that are TiC treated. Actually the Ti in the gas reacts with the C in the alloy to form a surface composite layer. They are honed first, so they dull slightly when treated, but the increased wear resistance is more than worth it.
