Hello. I am a kitchen cabinet designer. We're working on a kitchen where we have a 12" deep by 6" h space above the cabinets to duct the range hood to the outside. The hood specifications call for an 8" duct. Is it possible to transition to a rectilinear duct, if so what dimensions should it be and how difficult/unusual is this to do? We are running 48" to get to the outside. Thanks in advance for your help.

Trane duct wheel has all this stuff and so do wheels from other manufacturers.

just need to keep the same cross section area

and also keep your transitions as smooth as possible.

Keeping the same duct cross-sectional area ignores the problem of hydraulic radius.

check with the hood manufacturer, they typically provide an attachment for round to rectangle fitting
