Hi

I am looking at rafter bracing for a portal frame structure approximately 80m long.

I have always braced the 2 end bays in for rafter bracing and the the ends of the building in the rafter and then towards the centre of the building for vertical bracing.

Question on this can I not just brace the rafter and vertical towards the centre, provided that the bracing has sufficient capacity for one bay only to be braced? Would it create problems with respect to erection.

Regards,

Does the member at the interior end of the bracing have capacity for the full bracing load?

Most times you put multiple spaces braced to lessen the demand on the diaphragm fasteners. If I'm understanding your question correctly.
