I have a general question regarding antenna tapering. As I understand it, antenna taping can decreases sidelobes and increase the width of the mainlobe. However, does antenna tapering impact the signal to noise ratio (SNR) of a radar system?

So, are you saying there is no impact on the SNR?
Antenna gain would be the directivity gain minus the internal losses of the antenna, and directivity gain does not depend on SNR (mostly just the radar rnage equation)

That's not what I said, was it? If the gain is higher, there is more signal, and the SNR will be better because part of the noise is fixed by the receiver.

Okay, I misunderstood. My apologies. In this case, I would agree with that, so there is definitely an influence on the SNR.
