I bought this book (publ. 1955) while on my continuing hunt for info and context on stamped metal cantilever contact springs. The book provides a treasure trove of useful resources on this topic - maybe 25 - 30% of the contents. Exactly what I was looking for & well worth the modest investment.
The balance of the book is of less interest to me but it covers in great and valuable detail the electro-magnetics used in actuators and more on general relay design. Yes relays are largely an historical artifact but in the days when they mattered to telephony they really did matter. So the depth and intensity of study means all the details were truly well sorted out.
It's inspiring and humbling to those of us "tinsmiths" laboring in the field of ElectroMech Pkg today to read some of these older books and be reminded that we are inheritors of a long and worthy tradition.
The book is a cousin to the Bell Labs four volume series "Physical Design of Electronic Systems". All these I recommend for context & are available on-line from used book sources such as Alibris.
