Right now as NX 8.5 operates, the "file save all" function is really "file save all modified". There are times when a file has been modified in some slight way that does not mark the file as modified and it does not get saved, but I would like it to be saved during the save all.

The question is:

Would anyone else like to see a check box which would force NX to save all opened parts regardless of their modified flag?

Another option is:

Two separate buttons, "save all modified" and "save all open".

Any other thoughts.

You can "Vote" here all you want but unless you submit an enhancement request nothing will happen.

I have never had a problem when the system did not recognize even a small modification.

No.

Like joycejo, I've never had a problem with the NX save functions. Some companies use the file save timestamp in their workflows, saving a file because the view orientation has changed would be an annoyance.

I don't think that i have seen a case when a modified file wasn't saved.
- Unless the session had crashed before that.

Btw, If you run NX manager, there is a "Force save All", which will ...

joycejo, agree 100%, I always participate in the voting and have even submitted enhancement requests as it is my belief that a product improves better with our participation and if we don't participate we don't have a right to complain.

Trust me, there are circumstances in which a file will not save when it should, I have proved this to my colleagues and our IT department, which is not geared toward cad management.

cowski, you created a journal at my request which saves all open parts and is absolutely indispensable, and does exactly what I would like to see incorporated into NX.

It would be helpful for me to find out what other users think about this topic.

Obviously there are certian view and layer commands that will not mark the part as modified. Regardless of the reason for wanting the save all open command, when it is needed your journal is awesome.

If you really want to "save all" even if not modified
then do a "part clean-up" on all open parts and then
do a "save-all"

jerry1423, absolutely, and other functions that will mark parts as modified. The one thing all these options add is time, time to update, cleanup, etc. On small assemblies....no problem.....on large assemblies, big problem. Even on fast networks saving large data sets can take quite a bit of time without the addition of having to do something to mark all the parts as modified. That is why I love the save all open journal, less overhead.

yea, it would take a long time
On the part clean-up menu maybe only have one thing checked on instead of all of them

It's funny you mention this because i've always been really annoyed that NX marks a file as modified when i change the view type from (for example) shaded to wireframe with dim edges. So you're right.. it IS an annoyance!
