For a Vessel of Diameter 3100 mm designed to ASME Sec Viii Div 1

1. Are Quick actuating type / Quick opening type closures safe and suitable.

2. What are the design rules for such closures.
2.1 I have gone through UG-35.2, UG-35.3, APP-24 and Non Mandatory App FF. But explicit design rules are not found.

3. Request any worked out examples.

DK44, 1) Quick acting closures can be, but are not necessarily, safe in a vessel of this size.

2) Under Sec VIII, Div 1, the applicable rules are as you have noted.

3) Quick acting closure design details are most likely very much proprietary and to some degree a matter of art, not likely you will find worked out examples.

Be careful.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
