Excuse me if this is a daft question, I'm sleep deprived due to wonderful baby boy :)

Looking at the Primary Consolidation equation, (S=CcHc/(1+eo)* log....

Your primary settlement goes down with higher initial void ratios. This seems counter-intuitive to me. What am I missing?

void ratio is also implied by the term "Cc." If you plot strain v. log P, you'd take-off Cec, which is the strain-based consolidation ratio.
