i am new in abaqus.I have two surfaces in small distance both ss and linked each other with beam elements.Can someone explain me why i although both surfaces have the pretty the same magnitude of e11,e22 they have different signs(positive and negative).since the biggest deformation is in the middle (i have pressure in the top surface)for both they are supposed to have pretty the same positive e11 are they . in this case the top has negative and the bottom positive value
