I've recently purchased a "stubby" accelerometer from a pretty well known supplier. I call it " stubby" because its low profile. I've noticed that the magnet is recessed @ .0156". This is a non-removeable magnet. My personal feeling is that the accelerometer base should be perfectly flat. Will the fact that the magnet is recessed affect the performance of the accelerometer, or does it matter. I paid @ $450.00 for this and am considering contacting the vendor to have it fixed. I've tested it with my hand held shaker and it seems to work well. I just feel that with the reccess there is to much room for trash to build up on it causing a dampening effect. It already has a slight build up of magnetic particles and being recessed it is near impossible to clean off.
Please advise.
