Hello All.
i am currently looking for ideas with regards to how people store their initial production samples. and the process's they use whilst processing initial production samples.

I am currently in the process of improving the initial samples process where i work and want some ideas from other practices please.

Thank you
Louis

All our ICS and other pertinent documents to the initial sampling process are filed the old fashioned way at my place, in metal file cabinets. IPS parts, if they pass all inspection criteria, are shipped to the customer as part of their first order.

I have worked at places where all documentation was kept in the ERP/MRP database and/or scanned afterward and placed in locked folders on the main network file server after all sampling had been completed.

Hi tz101
Thank you for your feedback, we store all our documents on our network for safe keeping. its the samples themselves that i really want to organise. we need to keep them for a substantial amount of time for going back to if we have any issues with further stock from the same batch.

RFID tags might be a reasonable way of ensuring that parts don't get mis-identified later if the paperwork gets separated from the parts. That would also make it easier to find parts when the searcher doesn't have direct experience or knowledge of the part in question.
