Can anyone advise standards which specify the location of test samples for quality control testing of large Q+T steel castings? Sometimes we use separely cast test blocks and other times integrally cast test blocks but the question is the same for both cases.
In particular I would like to know the depth below the surface of the samples and how representative this is, bearing in mind that properties can vary considerably with depth.
