Hi Folks,

Can any body shed some light with reference to my subject of this thread.

PWHT vs Localized PWHT in accordance with ASME Sec VIII Div-1



 
PWHT can be an equipment in its entirety or of one weld (local), or anything in between.
The practical difference is that full vessel PWHT is conveniently done in an enclosed furnace, while local PWHT uses specialized heaters, usually electric resistance. This often presents technical challenges in managing thermal expansion and heat flows.
But Code-wise, the rules are the same.
