PWHT SCALE BUILD UP

Hello

We have seen a large amount of scale build up on ring grooves, material carbon steel (4130) being PWHT at 1150F for 4 hours. Would like to hear ideas on removing scale build up and preventing. Note ring groove has +/-0.004 tolerance and 32 finish.

PWHT in an inert atmosphere; nitrogen is kinda inert, argon is completely inert.
