Hi:
I am involved in a project to install Oil Fired Boilers for heating steam. As an alternative to our DM water suppy we would like to convert our city Domestic Water to DM water. The saturated steam production of plant is in the range of 110,000 Kg/hr (242,508 Lb/hr). What type of water treatment do you suggest that can fit in min. space? What is the ratio of domestic water waste to DM protection as I am assessing the sewage capcity to dump the waste water? Thanx for your inputs

What kind of water quality are you looking for? Resistivity and silica?

Depending on your boiler selection AND depending on the quality of your domestic water, you may not need to provide Demin water to your new boilers.

Only softened water may be necessary.

Who is your boiler vendor ? What does your boiler vendor state ?

What are your steam conditions ?

Just remember that as the water quality lowers you have to take a larger blow down to keep the impurities from dropping out or corrosion in your boilers.
As posted above get with the boiler manufacturer or with a recognized name in boiler water treatment (BWT) company. Don't skimp on your BWT.

The most attractive method at the present time is to use a RO/Demineralizer system.

This type of system will typically provide about 80-90% of the raw water as DM water. Or 10-20% of the raw water will be waste.
