Pulse rise time measurments

This is a mathematical question:
A pulse has a rise tim "t1" and the scope has a rise time "t2", so the total measured rise time will be:
The the square root of: The square of "t1" + The square of "t2".

Any mathematical drive available for that?

I don't remember the analysis details, but in his book, Dr. Howard Johnson shows how to calculate the "observed" rise time of a signal given the rise time and the rise time of a scope.
