Has anyone experience with protective heat shields on flanged joints ? As i understand it these shields are used to protect the flanged joints on hot lines from cooling due to precipitation (rain, snow etc)which can lead to uneven stresses in the joint resulting in leakage. As a rule our flanged joints are not insulated if the line is insulated due to the possibility of leakage going undetected if covered with insulation and cladding.
