I have a precast concrete building where the exterior wall will have a large hole cut out of it. The wall is reinforced with WWF. It is 5 inches thick. The wall has an exterior exposure. I have 2 questions:
1. What would be the recommended way of protecting the WWF of the saw cut face from corroding? I was thinking of painting the face with an epoxy primer and then a finish coat. I don't want the ends of the WWF to start rusting and staining or rusting and popping.
2. On a cast-in-place exposed edge of concrete I would typically call out for a chamfer. Is there a way to treat the corner edge of the saw cut to prevent shipping of the concrete?

Thanks for your assistance.

I would use a zinc rich epoxy and touch up the cut ends of the WWM. Then apply your primer and top coat. Check with the supplier for compatibility and if they can offer a better solution. Careful with coatings, some discolour.

I agree with dik; it's the best way to go. I've been on jobs where the specs called for chipping out the concrete around the bar, cutting the bar, then patching. In most case it's more trouble than it's worth.
