I am specifying a set of neoprene bearing pads for a small bridge span. I am not used to using this material and need to know what the proper way is to call out the pad on the drawings. I am assuming I need the outside dimensions, thickness, and hardness of the neoprene. Is there some kind of industry standard for how to call this out though?

Check with the State Department of Transportation in the state where the bridge is to be located. They will have a specification for this material and their standard drawing details will likely have a typical call-out for it.

Attached is the standard detail for bearing pads from the Florida DOT...

ASTM D2000 has a line call out system. It looks something like this:

ASTM D2000 M2BG714 B14 EA14

You have to look at the ASTM to figure out what all of the letters mean.
