ASME Y14.5-2009 section 8.3.1.6 states - " A profile tolerance may be applied all over the 3-dimensional profile of a part unless otherwise specified. It may be applied in one of the following ways:
1) Per figures 3-24, 4-11, and 4-16 of ASMY Y14.8-2009, a profile tolerance can be used in a general note to apply to the part. Is this profile tolerance in anyway different than an "ALL OVER" Profile tolerance applied to the same part, or do they yield the exact same tolerance zones?
2) If they do produce the exact same tolerance zones would adding the "ALL OVER" note to the FCF in the notes section help to avoid any confusion for those reading the print? Or, does the wording "UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED" already infer the "ALL OVER" aspect?
(a) Place the "all over" symbol on the leader from the feature control frame as shown in Fig. 8-8.
(b) Place the term "ALL OVER" beneath the feature control frame.1) Per figures 3-24, 4-11, and 4-16 of ASMY Y14.8-2009, a profile tolerance can be used in a general note to apply to the part.
