proE for mechanism modelling

As I understand it, there is a special module for modelling mechanisms in ProE, "Mechanism/pro".I wonder if this is the right stuff for me.


In the field of architecture, i am designing foldable frames. For this I need to model: bars, cables, input movements and joints with various DOF's.


The model needs to present:
- the response to the input movement
- possible geometrical misfits
- a graphical representation of the folding process
For various alternatives.


To start with, I am not interesested in the stresses and forces during thefolding process.


Would you go for ProE? What alternatives are there?

MDO is the module that you need to have the license for.


Mechanism/Pro is actually the interface of ADAMS for ProE.


ADAMS, LMS VirtualLab, and SIMPACK are the dedicated softwares for mechanisms and Dynamics while what you have mentioned can be solved in MDO.

Thanks very much for resolving this. I take it you would advise me to stick with proE to get the results i need.
