Hi I am new to this forum, i wanted to clarify the follwing,
1) We have received few A 105 -WNRF fittings of various sizes under diffrent ratings , since the party who has supplied these fittings are not reputed we wanted to cross verify the chemical and mechanical properties by testing a few WNRF flanges supplied.
a)As per A105 the tensile specimen axis to be taken at midpoint between the center and surface of the wnrf and testing to be done as per SA370 with maxmimum possible dia, also it says the long'l axis of the specimen to be in the direction of maxmimum worked condition.( dirctional grain flow)
Can someone guide me on 12" x 1500# x sch 160 flange where the sample to be taken - on the flange area ( tangential - i assume )or on the weld neck area ( longi'l ) as we donot know how the bar / billet has been worked or reduced and in which direction.
Is there is any reference available in code - how to take a sample ( tensile ) on weld neck raised flanges.
Looking forward to receive your valuable comments
