It provides two basic capabilities. Once created at the top level assembly, it allows you to open only some of the Components of an Assembly and yet still be able to see the rest of the unloaded Components as lightweight see-thru bodies so that you can see the entire context of the assembly without having to load 'heavier' data. And along those same line, if you load NONE of the Components you can still see what the Assembly looks like using the least amount of memory possible as this scheme is that absolute lightest weight version of an Assembly that NX can create and still be able to show in as an albeit, see-thru, but yet still as a fully 3D shaded model.
