procedure on foam depression tests?

I am seeking information on the PROPER technique for shooting a foam depression test. I have looked at Echometer and others on the web, but there does not seem to be a consensus that I can pass on to our operations people on both HOW-TO, and Interpretation.

How do others handle this situation?
