We have a lot of problems getting threaded materials (mostly monel thats copper plated or stainless steel 10-32, 1/4 -28 ) to accept class 2A gauges.
We braze small studs to caps in a vacuum furnace & alloy tends to vaporize on the threaded areas . The threads get chased down with a die.These are adjustable dies but all sorts of strange things seem to be happening .The threads get damaged or else the no-go gauges gauges go on too far .
Also the problems get worse if the acceptable parts need to be hot solder dipped ( class 2 )afterwards .We have formed a small team to attempt to solve the problem , but we are wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences and what they discovered as root causes .
