We're mostly happy with our nVidia Quadro FX 1700 cards running SWX 2007 on Windows XP Professional. We run 2 monitors.

There is a problem that I can't resolve. The nView settings have an option to "Enable child window spanning across miltiple displays." Even if I uncheck that it's still enabled. I have to manually resize the child window each time

Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it?

I tried contacting nVidia but their customer service is non-existant.

We run the same card, with the same option. Do you have this problem with all apps, just SW or what? The behavior we see is that child windows usually start spanned, but if you maximize the child window it goes to one monitor or the other.

I don't have any other software that uses child windows so it's hard to say if it's only a SWX issue.

We used to be able to move & maximize a child window to a single monitor but we just got new computers with the latest nVidia drivers and that doesn't work any more.

Are you using the "latest" driver or the SolidWorks Approved driver? We are using the driver dated 9/21/2007, version 6.14.11.6262.

We were using the "latest", which I mistakenly assumed was the "greatest".

I downloaded the older "approved" driver and that sorta fixed the problem (thanks handleman!).

Child windows still open across two displays but now I can click on the button to send them to one display. A minor annoyance that we can live with.

Most people assume that the newest driver must be the best. More often than not that isn't the case.

Sounds like you've got yours working at least as well as ours is. I like the nView hotkey to send windows between displays. I wish there was a hotkey to do the same thing with child windows. I ended up having to write a SW macro using Windows API to get that functionality.
