I have been an Allen Bradley/Rockwell Toolkit user for about 5 years, the last 4 with the same IBM laptop with Windows 2000 Professional OS. I use mostly RS Logix, RS Linx and RS View 32 software packages, and up until lately no real problems.
This year the activation system changed, and I was unable to get any working AB software back on my laptop after trying the Activation Server. I had a company spare laptop I was able to get RS Logix 500 and Factory Talk View ME on and running to finish up a job, but that laptop has XP Professional (and not much else).
I have removed all the previous AB programs, run disk cleanup and defrag utilites, and all the latest Windows updates. I have tried to install the latest revs (CPR 9) on this laptop, and the installation files keep hanging. Have searched the Knowledge base and tried Tech Connect, keep getting "your laptop has a problem", except all my other softwares seem to be working fine.
Have I missed something? Is anyone else seeing a problem with new release AB software and Windows 2000?
Hate to reformat the hard drive, I have a lot of service softwares I use regularly, such as Basler, Woodward, GE, etc, with no apparent problems.
Thanks, Mike L.
