hey guya..actually i want to develop a moment rotation graph from non linear analysis for semi rigid connection between beam and column,,,beam is bolted to the column flange with endplate welded on the beam..so beam and endplate is a rigid connection and they are connected to column flange with semi rigid connection by using JNT4 element to connect them..the endplate surface and column flange surface are not merged and a gap of 0.05mm is provided between them...the whole model is applied with line mesh divison 1 to control the meshing with 1 division ..JNT4 element is applied between the endplate surface and column flange surface with the same division as the meshing and with joint material provided with 1xE9 N/mm2 for the spring stiffness...the JNT4 material was 3 freedom translational/beam/grillage/assymetric solid......the column flange, beam flange, endplate and bolt are modeled as volume and the beam web and column web are designed as surface....HX8M for volume n QTS4 for surface are used...loading are increases at far end 1.3m on the beam with incremental load...for support, the bottom column are restrained in all xyz direction and upper column are restrained in all direction except Y....the yield strength for the plastic properties are applied as yield strength test from lab..other data are as below...

Component Hardening Gradient
Slope1 Plastic strain1 Slope2 Plastic strain2
Beam, column, end plate 0 0.02 10000 100
Bolts 20000 100 - -

the problem...the analysis can run and converged..but the endplate n column flange stick together and act as a rigid connection but in fact JNT4 element is applied to provide the semi rigid case...the beam bend pulling together the column..this sholuld be happening because in experiment the endplate was coming out and the slipping of bolt occured and not just sticking together as in the analysis...i am really sure there is sumthing not right with JNT4 element in my model...can you give any comment..? tq

i have attcahed the cmd file and after deformed pic for ur reference...tq

hey...how do we determine the plastic strain for secon phase...what is hardening gradient?
