I am new to CATIA and I am trying to assemble two thick surfaces. I brought in the (1) existing component & using symmetry, created the mirrored part. Now when i go to constraint it, it don't allow me to do so. What am I doing wrong here.
?? Should I create the symmetrical part outside the Assy Design & How??

Hi,

In my opinion is better to create a mirrored part outside the assembly (maybe you want to use that part also in other assemblies).

I know its a little bit complicated then to use symetry but see if its working for you...

For this, open the original part and a new empty part and tile them vertical or horizontal to see the effects of your actions.

Copy the original part (right click on partbody - copy) and paste special as result with link in your new part.

Choose the mirror command and a mirror plane and then use the new part in your assy.

Regards
Fernando
