I have a project which will supply irrigation to 16,000 ha (40 acres) through a pipe supply and distribution networks. The system will supply small farms typically of 2 to 5 ha (some 5000 consumers) and will operate as a pressurised system supplying water to farm hydrants at adequate pressure (3.5 bar or 50 psi)to run on farm sprinklers. Hydrants will be controlled by flow limiters (variable orifice valves) and pressure regulating valves.

I don't have a problem with the design concept but the client wants examples of where this has been done before. His main concern is the operation and management. Although we can describe this is detail he wants to see something similar operating in real life. There are a number of small projects in Europe but nothing on this scale. There are also a number of projects in North Africa but none are working, most failed early after commissioning, so they are not a good example to give to my client.

I expect that any projects of this nature, that are operating, will either be in the States or in Australia.

Any ideas?
