Hello everyone,

I am about to combine refurbishment for Safety valves which are 30 years old. Unfortunately we do not have any documentation related to these valves. At a first stage our contractor wants us to give them rough prices for refurbishment process. I am ready to give them prices for maintenance and service works but there is a problem related to the spare parts. I don't have any information about manufacturer and cannot ask them about prices for these spares. And also we are doing visual inspection and I cannot inspect internal parts of equipment. What is your suggestion related to the price for spares which I couldn't determine?

If it were me I would replace the safety valves completely with something you can get documentation for and spare parts. That way an internal inspection is also avoided. I don't know what type of valves or sizes (and therefore cost) you are dealing with, but whilst refurbished 30 year old valves can work perfectly well, new valves would considerably reduce any risks on site.
