I have an fairly small .asm file (V20) (maybe 50 parts in 5 subs) When I insert a new part or assembly, as soon as I define 1 relationship the part becomes "fully positioned", and I can't define further relationships, the dreaded "conflict" message pops up. This doesn't happen in other files, tho I recall it happening before long ago - can't remember how I fixed it (if I did)

Does this happen when you insert any part, or just one in particular?
Start by checking for any existing failed or conflicting relationships in the assembly.

Happens with any part. I did have some links that wanted updating, when I did that it helped, in that now I can add more relationships even though the part is still "fully positioned" after the first. I could live with this except some of the parts are doors that I want to rotate easily. This problem does not happen in other files.

I've seen this problem several times in the past, but never been able to come up with a definite reason for it happening.
The only thing I can suggest is to check each part model and sub-asssembly for errors.
