We're using electroplating to create relatively small precision parts and the mechanical material properties are critical. Apparently there is quite a bit of science regarding how to create properties sought, e.g., more ductile or more stiff/brittle, through adjustment of the electroplating process. Initial attempts are being pursued using nickel, but other electroplatable metals might be considered. Does anyone know of a good reference source for generating specific material properties for electroplate-fabricated parts?
