I recently ran into a proprietary product that is essentially a precast concrete (or cementious, at least) floor panel with some structural capacity. In the literature I saw varying references to them using safety factors of either 4 or 2. Is there a standard for this or is that simply their preference? I would have thought the same safety factors that are used on other building components would have been appropriate. Does anyone have any insight into this? Thank you.
