Hi all,

Im not a civil/bridge engineer, more mech design.

I have a question regarding precast beam sections of bridges;

If you have the section dimensions is there a standard to which you can come to the max load?

ie; HE-A / HE-B section girders? properties as an example?

also is there a standard to which the steel rods / stifferners are layed out?

thanks.

I don't think you will find any information as straightforward as you would like. But a good starting point is the span and the loading of the bridge. With that information a supplier of precast beams would find a solution for you. With this basic infomation suppliers will advise whether prestressed beams are recommended or not.

Thanks Zambo,

its a vague area....
