I am installing 7 powerflex 700 vfd in on of my production lines, Instead of installing 1 main contactor or 7 individual contactors for Emergency Safety requirements, I was wondering if anyone has used the hardware enable input on the VFD to shutdown the VFD when the safety relay drops out.

I don't think that would satisfy the requirement for an emergency shutdown that is safety-related. You're going to need a contactor or a breaker with a shunt trip.

Per Rockwell's literature...

"Safe Off Option, the first offering available within the DriveGuard™ series of safety solutions, prevents a drive from delivering rotational energy to motors by integrating a safety circuit with the drive’s power switching signals. This solution meets EN 954-1, Category 3."

We're employing the equivalent to this feature on a drive from Control Techniques as the ESD for fans on our cooling tower. You need to review the hazard in your application and see if the integrity level is adequate for your requirements.
