This is a requirement from the client to bury the Firewater line under the ground. The pipe material to be used is galvanized pipe and is jointed by flanges. please advise me on the wrapping required for the flanges, which is buried.
[and before proceeding you might want to check with all AHJs - I glanced through a copy of at least the 2010 version of NFPA 24 Standard for the Installation of Private Fire Service Mains and Their Appurtenances and didn't happen to see flanged and galvanized steel pipe and fittings (and standards etc.) specifically listed in Section 10 for general purpose underground installation. I did however see a statement, "10.1.2 Steel Pipe. Steel piping shall not he used for general underground service unless specifically listed for such service."]
