With a help of T. Harris's book I'm trying to develop a thermo-mechanical model of HS-spindle brg assembly.
One of most important outputs are stiffneses of bearings, useful in further dynamical analyses.

My question concerns the radial stiffness. According to type of preload the brg boundary conditions are determined:

Position: position (:-]) of brg rings
Constant: axial force on outer ring

Is it possible, that radial stiffness of spring-preloaded brg is merely 10% of position-preloaded one, in comparable initial state?

My model says so. Nevertheless it is mentioned nothing like that in brg catalogues.

Thanks for any response.
