Hello,

My native language is spanish so, excuse my english.

I'm preparing Data Sheet for Polypropylene(PP) Flanges. Our Client have your products of vendor call SIMONA and I have a doubts about their brochure material description.

For blind and back-up Flanged theirs description of Material is: Polypropylene (PP) with glass-fibre reinforcement, steel insert

So my question: This flanged is steel lined with Polypropylene (PP) with glass-fibre reinforcement ? or "steel insert" means other thing ?

I attached SIMONA brochure in this thread, please see page number 182.

I need to solve this, because next tuesday (16) I have to deliver this data sheets.

Thanks in advance.

Regards all

Bit difficult to see from the brochure, but insert tends to mean that the a steel ring is somehow inserted into the PP with fibre re-inforcement.

My guess is that this would be the bearing surface between the flange ring and the metal bolts to prevent damage to the PP/GF material as the bolts are tightened.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

If enlarged the backing ring flange picture in Page 182, you will see a "hatched" area (steel insert) with a coating layer outside (glass-fiber reinforcement) for corrosion protection.

See similar item from googling photo below:

Thanks LittleInch and mk3223 for your Help !!, I was confirmed by Vendor this afternoon that the steel insert have coating layer outside of glass-fiber reinforcement PP. [thumbsup2]
