I would like to know what the grade and or specification for plastics used to cover the blue lights and red lights used on police and ems vehicles.
A point in the right direction would be greatl appreciated!

Cselectric,

I have molded these lenses before and the material that was used was Lexan. Unfortunately I can not give you the specfics on the material grade. Mainly it is because I would need to have a release from the customer to do that.

I hope that this helps you "step" in the right direction.

Lexan is just one brand of polycarbonate. It may be specified by brand name by some authorities in some regions. Other authorities might simply specify type and or performance or Lexan *** or equivilent.

The most likely qualities to be specifically mentioned are colour, light transmission, UV light resistance and impact strength.

The details re colour could quite easily be different from country to country, or more likely from continent to continent Regards
