What is meant by polarization slope parameter with regards to corrosion? Can one cite a few examples of its usage/ implication?

I'll start with cathodic protection design as the ratio of total circuit resistance to cathode surface area. The concept is explained in NACE Publication 7L198 Design Of Galvanic Anode Cathodic Protection Systems For Offshore Structures.
