Here’s my problem:

I have the need to create hundreds, sometimes thousands, of datum points in Pro-E such that the naming convention is repeatable with the change of the following four parameters:

1. Number of points in the X-direction
2. Number of points in the Y-direction
3. Point spacing in X-direction
4. Point Spacing in Y-direction

I also rename the first point to PNT1000 instead of the default PNT0 since I need the report file (.rpt) in Mechanica to display the measures assigned to each point in chronological order in order to use my post-processing spreadsheet as efficiently as possible.

If I create a pattern with 50 x 50 datum points, with both spacing equal to 0.01” with the first direction specified in the pattern as the X-coordinate and the second being the Y-coordinate it creates a very well organized pattern with the points of each row and column in chronological order. Life is good!

Now, I set up each parameter in the relations menu so I can easily manipulate them. When I change parameters 1 and 2 above to a 10 x 10 matrix, the numbering sequence jumps all over the place! The First row looks good, points PNT1000-PNT1009 but row two becomes PNT1049-1058…. I tried first setting the parameters to 1 and 1 to clear the point name assignment, and then changing to 10 and 10, but this doesn’t help.

Any advice? Thanks in advance!
